Ten albums of this year
I sometimes love to play the music connoisseur. Although it became more difficult to keep up with “new” music specially when I am discovering so many “old” stuff, I managed to build a small list of those 2011 albums that were on rotation on my playlist. These are those that I enjoyed the most. So If you are a musician you want to be on that list or a similar ones! If you aren’t I hope you to read/hear about your top picks! And eventually listen to them.
The list is in no particular order.
Watch the throne ~ Kanye west & Jay-z
Maybe the list has an order after all this might just be the most played album on my list and the one I defended the most. All I know is that I dropped a few pounds running to it! Might have escaped obesity! should I go to Paris and get fu**kd up to?
Key track: New Day
Wounded Rhymes ~ Lykke li
I remember when I have been told to listen to her. Kinda ignored it and yes I kinda regret it. Then a friend started singing the key track, saw the video and it became a regular on speakers.
Key track: Sadness is a blessing
Camp ~ Childish Gambino
I have become an avid hip-hop listener, probably heard more hip-hop than any other genres this. Had a lot of great expectations this year most of them were over hyped, discovered this kid on a blog and it is his energy that got me. plus he’s kinda funny.
Key track: Heart beat
James Blake ~ James Blake
It’s a blue album, I forgot that I knew about. It’s one awesome album, the music is very very good feels personal and his voice is incredible, glad I discovered him this year.
Key track: Wilhelms Scream
Eye Contact ~ Gang Gang dance
Simply put I saw a video of them live online and was automatically hooked!
Key track: Chinese High
The English rivera~ Metronomy
First time I heard this, I was commuting, and the sound was so dreamy, I did not want the ride to end. Knowing that arriving at destination meant taking a break from the album.
Key track: The look
Bon Iver ~ Bon Iver
Too good, too awesome, It’s the kind of album I put on whenever I did not know what to listen to. It somehow managed to bring me in the right place everytime.
Key track: Holocene
SBTRKT ~ SBTRKT
This album actually took someone out of this list. I had already drafting the list when I heard this album. And it’s been on repeat maybe because it’s kinda festive and it is this period of the year. Or maybe is just fun to to pronounce their name.
Key track : Wildfire
Nine type of lights ~Tv on the radio
TOTR has probably become one of my favorite bands out there! I am a fan, “You” video made me laugh and they delivered yet another sensational album.
key track: YOU
W H O K I L L ~ Tune-Yards
It’s a modern album of I don’t know what! Very interesting to the ear! energetic and weirdly beautiful!
Key track : Gangsta
